Participants will be awarded the Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of the course.
Course Objective
On completion of this unit, the learner will be able to

Understand the roles and responsibilities of the worker and the Workplace Safety and Health Committee stipulated under the Workplace Safety and Health Act

Able to follow workplace procedures for risk control and emergencies accurately and identify typical unsafe working conditions and practices within the industry concerned
Target Audience
Any individual that does not have supervisory responsibilities for others and work under direction to perform a specific set of work activities.
Course Outline

Follow safe work practices and risk control procedures

Practise personal hygiene at the workplace in accordance with organizational procedures
-
Use and maintain personal protective equipment required for work in accordance with organizational procedures
-
Use and maintain workplace equipment and safety devices in accordance with organizational procedures or manufacturer’s instructions
-
Follow safety signs and instructions in the workplace
-
Follow workplace risk control measures in accordance with organizational procedures
-
Report workplace safety and health issues to appropriate person in accordance with organizational procedures and Workplace Safety and Health Act
Participate in workplace safety and health management activities
-
Identify and report potential hazards and risks associated within the work area in accordance with organizational procedures
-
Report unsafe working conditions and work practices in accordance with organizational procedures
-
Resolve hazards and risks identified in the work area in accordance with organizational procedures
-
Identify personal protective equipment requirements for work in accordance with organizational procedures
-
Identify safety device required for safe operations of machinery and equipment if any at the workplace
-
Identify information needed to handle workplace emergencies
-
Participate in workplace safety and health training
Follow workplace emergency response procedures

React to the types of emergencies at the workplace

Use equipment and materials required for workplace emergency response in accordance with organizational procedures

Activate emergency services in the event of emergency at the workplace in accordance with organizational procedures

Follow the instructions given by authorized personnel in the event of emergency at the workplace

Participate in the organizational emergency response exercise in accordance with guidelines provided by the relevant regulatory requirements

Follow infectious disease outbreak control at the workplace in accordance with guidelines provided by the relevant regulatory bodies
Methodology
This workshop comprises of group discussion, table exercises and case study. The emphasis will be on how to guide employees to observe defined workplace safety and health policies and procedures, and acquire competencies necessary to work safely at the workplace. Final assessment will be conducted at the end of the course.

90% Course Fee Subsidy, cap $25/hr for SMEs / Singapore citizens aged ≥ 40 yrs

Absentee payroll is applicable

Absentee Payroll : 80% of hourly basic salary, capped at
$4.50 per hour
For SMEs, enhanced absentee payroll funding available at 80% of hourly basic salary, capped at $7.50/hr

*SMEs are defined as companies with: (i) at least 30% local shareholding; AND (ii) Group annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million OR Group employment size of not more than 200 employees.

Workfare Training Support (WTS) Scheme:
Singapore Citizens aged ≥ 35 years & earning ≤ $2,000/month are eligible for 95% course fee subsidy. Companies can also apply for absentee payroll at 95% of hourly basic salary.
Funding Eligibility:
In order to enjoy the funding, participants need to fulfill the following requirements:

Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents (PR) of Singapore

Attain at least 75% course attendance

Successfully complete assessment & certified as Competent

Participant has not enjoyed WDA’s funding for the same course before

For company-sponsored participants, training is fully sponsored by companies, which are registered or incorporated in Singapore
Companies are to submit application via www.skillsconnect.gov.sg to enjoy the funding
